Government Pathologist, Dr Nehaul Singh, at around 10:00hrs this morning (Friday), performed a post-mortem examination (PME) with dissection on the body of Richard Layne, a 35-year-old Attorney-at-Law from Century Plam Gardens, D’Urban Backlands, Georgetown.
The body was identified by Layne’s cousin, Michael Harding and his brother, Ryan Layne.
In conclusion, Dr Singh opined the cause of death to be ‘𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐤’ going from left to right with a sharp instrument measuring at least 17cm in length.
Richard Layne was found dead at Lot 183 Century Palm Gardens, D’Urban Backlands, Georgetown home on Thursday morning. He is believed to have been killed between 21:30 and 22:13 hrs on Wednesday.
Layne had been spending the evening of Wednesday with his cousin, Michael Harding, before returning home, where he was later found unresponsive in his car by his roommate, Police Sergeant Tony Sulker.
Despite efforts to revive him, Layne was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Both Sulker and Harding were detained yesterday for questioning and released last night. No one is in custody. Investigations continue.
