MODEC, the Japanese company contracted to build Guyana’s fifth floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel, has issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking local providers of office space in Georgetown. This move comes as MODEC prepares for its upcoming project which will significantly contribute to Guyana’s burgeoning oil and gas industry.

The RFI specifies a requirement for a private office space ranging from 725 to 756 square meters. This space will serve as MODEC’s corporate office, accommodating its workforce and essential business activities. In addition to basic utilities and amenities, the company requires 24-hour security, pantry support, cleaning, waste management, and pest control services.

MODEC is also seeking to rent office furniture, including desks, chairs, cabinets, meeting tables, and pantry equipment, for the new office space. Potential suppliers interested in responding to the RFI should access the MODEC Vendor Portal (www.modec.com/gysuppliers) and complete the pre-registration process. Once registered, they can reply to the official RFI questionnaire on the designated MODEC portal page. The deadline for submitting final responses is August 23, 2024.

Guyana’s fifth oil project called Uaru is expected to be a significant addition to the country’s energy infrastructure. The FPSO vessel, once operational, is projected to increase Guyana’s oil production capacity by 1.3 million barrels of oil per day. This project which is being led by an ExxonMobil-led consortium in the Stabroek Block underscores the nation’s commitment to further developing its oil and gas sector and strengthening its position as a regional energy leader.
