An alleged murder was committed on Ghantaj (only name given), a 61-year-old businessman of Lot 25 Adventure, Essequibo Coast by person/persons unknown, which occurred today, at Adventure, Essequibo Coast.
Inquiries disclosed that the now-deceased lived with his 47-year-old wife and 30-year-old daughter.
According to the wife, Durpattie Ragobar, she and her husband were asleep when they were interrupted by a noise. The woman said she remained in her bed while her husband went into the hallway. She claimed she heard about four gunshots and then a shout for “thief”.
She further told detectives that she went outside to the bathroom area, where she saw her husband lying in a pool of blood with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his chest.
The man was rushed to the Suddie Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor.
The scene was processed on arrival of the police and it is suspected that the 61-year-old had been shot from outside, through a louver window connected to the washroom, by the gunman/men who failed to gain entry into the home.
Investigating is ongoing.
