Around 10:00hrs yesterday, a tragic accident occurred on the Unamico Trail, Upper Berbice River, involving a motorcar with registration number PAB 1457, driven by Dave Causway of Kwakwani, Berbice River.
According to inquiries, the vehicle was heading north on the western side of the trail at an allegedly high speed while descending a hill. As Causway attempted to negotiate a right turn, he lost control of the car, which flipped several times before coming to a halt, pinning him inside.
Causway was eventually rescued by public-spirited individuals and transported to Kwakwani District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the attending doctor. The body has been moved to the Senior Pensioner mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
The scene has been visited and investigations are ongoing.
