From the beginning of time, mankind knew that what a man sows, so shall he reap. With this year’s launch of Agriculture Month, the Ministry is championing the cause of toiling today to sow for a better tomorrow.
Therefore, this year’s Agriculture Month is being observed under the theme, “Transforming Tomorrow: Championing Food Security through Innovation and Technology”.
The official launching ceremony was held this morning at the Ministry’s head office located on Regent Street. The launch took the form of an Interfaith Service which saw representatives from the three main religions in Guyana.
Agriculture Minister, Zulfikar Mustapha delivered the featured remarks.
He spoke about the importance of innovation and technology in advancing agri-food systems in Guyana and the region. While acknowledging the religious significance of agriculture, Minister Mustapha noted that amidst the positive transformation taking place in Guyana’s agriculture sector, people should reflect on the insights offered by the country’s diverse faiths. Minister Mustapha thanked the dedicated staff of the Ministry for their hard work to ensure the policies and vision of the government are achieved.
Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Madanlall Ramraj said in Guyana, agriculture is more than an industry; it is a calling that nourishes both body and soul. He also acknowledged the nation’s farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, and communities for the incredible resilience and innovation they continue to demonstrate.
