Salima Heeralal, 60, tragically passed away from injuries she sustained in a serious accident last Sunday along the La Bonne Intention (LBI) Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
The accident occurred around 06:00hrs and involved two vehicles: motor car PAH 5148, driven by 58-year-old Prakash Heeralal, with Salima as a passenger, and motorcar PAE 672, driven by 21-year-old Marshall Allicock.
Reports suggest that Allicock failed to stop at the intersection and collided with the side of Heeralal’s vehicle, causing it to crash into a bridge. Both Prakash and Salima Heeralal were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, while Allicock was taken to a private hospital for observation.
Sadly, Salima Heeralal succumbed to her injuries at 14:40hrs on Monday while receiving treatment. Prakash Heeralal has since been discharged, while Allicock remains hospitalized. Police are continuing their investigations.
