Police in Regional Division 4’C’ have apprehended two alleged robbers following robberies on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD) last night.

The first robbery occurred around 18:50 hrs at a Clonbrook barbershop, where a group of four men arrived, with one entering initially to ask for a haircut. Moments later, three masked men, reportedly armed, followed.

They quickly pointed their weapons at the barber and two customers, demanding valuables. The robbers made off with two gold chains valued at $1 million, $25,000 in cash, $180,000, and two cell phones from the victims before fleeing in a car. Police managed to arrest the driver, though a search is ongoing for the remaining suspects.

Later that night, at around 20:30 hrs, a second robbery unfolded along the Ogle Embankment, targeting a 25-year-old security guard. While she was walking, six men approached her on three motorcycles. One of the assailants allegedly brandished a firearm, and the men proceeded to rob her of $25,000, a gold chain, and a cell phone. Following a swift response, police arrested one of the suspects soon after the incident.
