Police are investigating a robbery committed on Mikel Brandt, a 29-year-old welder and his girlfriend Alana Bamfield, a 26-year-old unemployed female, both from Stevedore Housing Scheme, which occurred at about 01:15hrs today (Friday) at Brandt’s home.

The lone suspect reportedly ambushed the two victims outside Brandts’ home, relieving them of $130,000 (Guyana Currency cash), two Samsung cell phones valued at $100,000 and two gold chains valued at $120,000.

Around 01:15hrs this morning, Brandt and his girlfriend arrived home and entered their yard. At that moment, an unidentified man wearing a dark hoodie approached them, pointed a handgun, and demanded that they surrender their belongings, which they did.

Thereafter, a scuffle ensued between the suspect and Brandt, where a round was discharged from the suspect’s firearm. The suspect then fled the scene and made good his escape in an unknown direction.

The scene was processed, and one live 9mm round of ammunition was found, along with a pair of black sneakers.

Investigations are ongoing.
