India’s Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has reaffirmed India’s commitment to its partnership with Guyana, during a State Dinner held in his honor on Wednesday evening at State House, Georgetown.
PM Modi expressed his gratitude to President Dr Irfaan Ali, for being awarded Guyana’s highest honour, the Order of Excellence, describing it as a symbol of the enduring ties between the two nations.
“This honour does not only belong to me but 1.4B Indians and is a living proof of your deep commitment towards our relations,” Modi said.
Reflecting on the ties between India and Guyana, Modi highlighted the countries’ shared heritage and the pivotal role President Ali has played in strengthening bilateral relations, taking these collaborations to unprecedented heights.
The Indian leader emphasised India’s readiness to collaborate with Guyana in every field, underscoring the significance of their cooperation for the global south. “India is also ready to walk shoulder to shoulder with Guyana in every field. Our cooperation as two democracies is important not only for bilateral cooperation but also for the entire Global South,” PM Modi said.
Concluding his remarks, Modi highlighted the strong foundation of shared values and mutual respect between the two nations. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Guyana and President Ali.
