Guyanese aspiring to advance their tertiary education now have the opportunity to apply for scholarships under the Guyana Online Academy of Learning (GOAL) programme.
The application portal is open, and interested individuals are encouraged to submit their applications by 11:59 PM on February 28, 2025.
The programme offers a diverse range of fully funded academic opportunities, including vocational certificates, undergraduate diplomas, undergraduate degrees, postgraduate diplomas, master’s degrees, and doctoral degrees.
Through partnerships with accredited local and international institutions, such as the University of the West Indies (UWI) and the University of South California, the Government of Guyana ensures high-quality education is accessible to all eligible applicants.
GOAL, an initiative spearheaded by President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, is a cornerstone of the government’s mission to create a skilled and educated workforce, essential for Guyana’s national development.
Since its inception in 2021, GOAL has awarded an impressive 29,758 scholarships, surpassing its initial target of 20,000 for the 2021-2025 period. These scholarships have been distributed across all ten administrative regions, with the annual numbers increasing significantly:
2021: 6,280 scholarships
2022: 7,410 scholarships
2023: 7,752 scholarships
2024: 8,316 scholarships
To date, 6,624 scholars have successfully completed their programmes, equipping themselves with valuable skills in various disciplines.
GOAL is a key component of the government’s transformative agenda to establish a highly educated and competitive workforce that aligns with Guyana’s rapid development.
