Three employees of Dr. Balwant Singh’s Hospital Inc. were charged today at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court #3, with multiple counts of embezzlement totalling over $15 million.
Shivannie Guyadeen, 23, of Lot 716 Belle West, Canal No. 2 Polder, West Bank Demerara, was accused of stealing $14,307,000 between February 19 and December 19, 2024. Charged with Larceny by Clerk or Servant under Section 184 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Guyadeen pleaded not guilty and was granted $500,000 bail.
Kimberly Meenawattie Prasad, 21, of Foulis Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara, was charged for the alleged embezzlement of $1,070,000 between February 12 and December 21, 2024. She also pleaded not guilty and was placed on $250,000 bail.
Randy Persaud, 23, of La Grange, West Bank Demerara, faced charges for the theft of $180,000 on May 19, 2024. He pleaded not guilty and was granted $75,000 bail.
Additionally, Persaud and Guyadeen were jointly charged for allegedly embezzling $234,000 on March 28, 2024. They were not required to enter a plea and were each granted $75,000 bail.
The cases have all been adjourned to January 27, 2024, for statements.
