A post-mortem examination recently was performed on the body of Demarius Wilabus Payne, an 18-year-old college student from Atlanta Georgia, USA, and Wismar, Linden, at the Memorial Gardens Mortuary by Government Pathologist Doctor Nehaul Singh.
The PME, which was done on December 30, 2024, gave the cause of death as drowning. The body was handed over to her relatives for burial.
Payne drowned on Boxing Day (December 26th, 2024) at Coomacka Mines, Linden.
Enquiries disclosed that the teen came to Guyana to celebrate his birthday. On the date mentioned above, Payne was with relatives at the creek. While swimming, he ventured out to the deep part of the creek and attempted to cross over to the other side of the creek.
In doing so, he became submerged. The family members along with others searched the creek and Payne was fished out of the creek in an unconscious state. The body was escorted to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was pronounced dead on arrival by Dr. Joseph.
