The Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo (GECSCE) collaborated with the Ministry of Agriculture to create the inaugural ‘Conference Village’ which was launched Monday at the Kingston Esplanade, Georgetown.

The inaugural event showcases locally produced commodities and agricultural services available in Guyana, particularly to those players in the energy sector who will be participating in the 2025 edition of the Guyana Energy Conference & Supply Chain Expo.

Like the other new ventures this year, the Conference Village ties neatly into the theme of the 2025 Conference; that is: “Connecting the Dots: Integrating the Future.”

Chief Executive Officer of the Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo, Kiana Wilburg explained that the village is a tangible representation of how Guyana’s natural resources can be sustainably leveraged. According to her, policy leaders, businesses, and citizens, all must recognise that agriculture must remain at the forefront of Guyana’s diversification agenda.

“It also serves to ensure the stakeholders within Guyana’s agriculture industry have a broader market to showcase their capability and the products produced locally. The Guyana Energy Conference is a hub for bringing international and regional experts and stakeholders within 26 industries.

“We want to showcase the potential of our farmers and agro-processors and all the persons within the agricultural landscape, ensuring they are paired with the local partners who have the capabilities and we want to showcase the investment opportunities that are available in Guyana’s agricultural landscape,” Wilburg stated at Monday’s launch event.

Guyana’s Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha said the venture aligns with the government’s focus on diversification. For that reason, he said, the ministry was eager to collaborate with the Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo.

“While, in the past, agriculture has not been a main feature at the oil and gas conference, we are now creating synergies and merging the sectors in our country in keeping with CARICOM’s Vision 25 by 2025 initiative. Even though the oil and gas sector is attractive, Guyana’s agriculture sector has developed rapidly over the last four years. The growth has increased tremendously, positioning Guyana as a leader and agricultural powerhouse in the region,” Minister Mustapha explained.

The Conference Village runs from February 17 to 21, from 10: 00 hrs. to 17:30 hrs daily. Admission is free of cost. Meanwhile, the 2025 edition of the Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo will be held from February 18 to 21.
