Embattled businessman Nazar “Shell” Mohamed made some damning revelations on Tuesday evening, to the effect that local authorities have been overlooking the illegal operations of a fellow gold dealer whose operations have put the local financial system at risk.
Mohamed alleged that there is a Guyanese businessman who has been buying gold from Venezuelan men dressed in military uniform.
Mohamed said that the gold bought is 99.9% (pure gold). He claims that this has been going on over the last four years with billions of US dollars in gold sold.
“It almost put this country’s financial system into crisis. Nothing has been done about that,” Mohamed lamented.
He did not reveal much more information and said nothing about the identity of the businessesman. However, Mohamed said that he will be speaking much more about the issue and asked the public to be vigilant.
Mohamed said that the government has been allowing the unnamed businessman to carry out his operations unhindered. But, on the other hand, authorities are denying him his constitutionally mandated right to operate legal business in his own country.
