Nazar “Shell” Mohamed, who, along with his son, Azurddin Mohamed, was sanctioned by the US Government for alleged corrupt transactions should go public with allegations of gold smuggling.

Mohamed, earlier this week, said that a businessman has been engaging with Venezuelans “dressed in military” attire to buy gold.

Mohamed said that the gold bought is 99.9% (pure gold). He claims that this has been going on over the last four years with billions of US dollars in gold sold.

Mohamed further alleged that this businessman is being protected by the government.

Vice President, Bharrat Jagdeo, during a press conference today, said that the government would be happy if Mohamed reveals who the businessman is, and to report the matter to the US government and local law enforcement agencies.

Further, the Vice President said Mohamed is painting a picture of being victimized. The VP was keen to note that the government cannot put the country at risk by doing business with the Mohameds.

Jagdeo said that the government is not vindictive or hates them [Mohameds], but it “will risk the lives and livelihoods of our people”.
