Kester Johnson, a 26-year-old construction worker from Wismar, Linden, was charged today with assaulting his wife, Sawdia Bobb, on March 23, 2025.

The accused appeared at the Linden Magistrate’s Court this morning before Magistrate R. Liverpool, where the charge was read to him. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded to prison. The matter was postponed to April 23, 2025, for trial.

Meanwhile, Johnson is also accused of child abuse and an investigation into the incident has been completed, with the police file to be sent for legal advice shortly.

On March 22, Sawdia was involved in a physical altercation with Johnson at their home. Sawdia filed a report at Wismar Police Station regarding the incident but did not give a written statement.

On March 25, 2025, at about 15:25hrs, after receiving information, ranks from the Wismar Police Station contacted Sawdia and interviewed her about a disturbing video involving her child. The video showed her toddler hanging from a bed sheet. Sawdia claimed she deleted the video but was able to retrieve it for officers to review.

An investigation was subsequently launched which revealed that Johnson made the video and sent it to Sawdia’s phone.

The initial police report indicated that the toddler was medically examined, and there were no visible marks of violence.
