The matter against Ashaka King, the owner of Pieces & Things who was accused of stealing over $300,000 in human hair extensions, was dismissed today by a city magistrate.

The 28-year-old woman, who resides in D’Urban Backlands, had denied the charge which stated that on March 16, 2019 at North Road, Lacytown, she stole 20 packs of hair from Alana Lewis, along with several other items, worth some $349,000.

Today when the matter was called in the courtroom of Magistrate Rondel Weever, the virtual complainant told the court she does not wish to proceed with the matter.

Hence, the matter against King was dismissed by the magistrate.

According to information, King and the victim both had businesses in the same North Road establishment. While King is the owner of a boutique, Lewis is the owner of a salon.

However, days before the incident, the two got into an argument which led to King changing the locks on the doors of the establishment. Later, when Lewis was given access to her salon, she discovered several packs of Brazilian Hair missing along with several other items.

The matter was then reported, an investigation was carried out, and King was arrested and charged with the offence.
