A 20-year-old man has been arrested after he reportedly chopped his neighbour to death on Saturday afternoon at Farm, East Bank Essequibo (EBD).
The suspect claimed that the deceased sodomized him during a drinking session at his home on Friday night.
The victim has been identified as 43-year-old Andrew Drakes, a carpenter of Farm, East Bank Essequibo.
Drakes was chopped multiple times about the body and died at the Leonora Cottage Hospital.
The suspect was arrested at the scene. According to information received, the victim was sitting in front of his yard when the suspect approached him.
The two men were seen arguing before the 20-year-old man started firing chops at the deceased, causing him to collapse.
The chopping incident stemmed from an allegation made by the victim that the deceased sexually assaulted him on friday night while they were imbibing but no report was made about the incident.
