Two youths who allegedly tried to kill a man whom they were consuming alcohol with were today charged and remanded on a joint attempted murder charge.
Shamar Matthias, 23, and Leonard Bennett, 20, both miners, were not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on June 4, 2019 at Cuyuni River, with the intent to commit murder, they unlawfully and maliciously wounded Vicky Willams.
Facts presented by Police Prosecutor Shellon Daniels stated that on the day in question, the defendants, who are friends with Williams, were consuming alcohol at a shop when an argument ensued.

Williams was then rushed to Suddie Hospital where he was treated and transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he remains a patient.
The matter was then reported, an investigation was carried out, and the defendants were arrested for the offence.
