A 20-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in an accident late last night at Richmond Housing Scheme, Essequibo.
The accident happened a little after 21:00 hrs.
The deceased has been identified as Kishan Sankar of Richmond Housing Scheme.
According to information received, the motorcyclist was speeding when he lost control of his bike and collided with a concrete bridge in front of the Richmond Nursery School before he ended up in a trench.
The Guyana Standard has been informed that Sankar’s motorcycle fell on him and pinned him in the trench for sometime.
By the time he was pulled from the trench, he was already dead.
Only last Friday, motorcyclist Mark Sauers met a tragic death when he crashed into a minibus on Vlissengen Road, Georgetown.
The impact of the accident caused his body to be severed into two pieces. Both Sauers and Sankar were not wearing helmets.
Over the years, the Guyana Police Force has been pleading with motorcyclists to wear their helmets as it protects the head in the event of an accident.
