Former Minister within the Ministry of Finance Jaipaul Sharma is now the Minister within the Ministry of Public Infrastructure. He officially took up this new portfolio yesterday at an introductory meeting at the Wight’s Lane, Kingston, Georgetown ministry.
At that meeting, Sharma met with various heads of agencies and other members of staff within the Public Infrastructure Ministry. Among those on hand to welcome Sharma was Senior Public Infrastructure Minister David Patterson who congratulated him on his new appointment and encouraged him to enjoy his tenure at the ministry.
Within the coming days, the two ministers will meet to discuss their plans going forward for the ministry.
As Minister Sharma met with staff members, especially the heads of agencies, he urged them to share their agencies’ 2019 work programmes with him. He is confident that he will be able to offer workable solutions where necessary in helping to meet the mandate of the ministry.
According to information released by the government, it is hoped that Minister Sharma, through his new appointment, will lend his support towards helping to transform infrastructure in Guyana.
