Divisional Commander Marlon Chapman has confirmed that a car which is believed to have been used by gunmen in the shooting death of Leon Duncan known as “Whistle” and the wounding of three other persons last night in Festival City, has been found.
More than 30 live ammunition—similar to the ones used in the drive-by shooting—were found in the silver grey Toyota 212. The car will be taken to the Brickdam Police Station as investigation continues.
Duncan of Manatee Place, South Ruimveldt, was shot multiple times and died on the spot. His brother, Shaquille Duncan and two others, Lawrence Simon, 34, and Orande Gordon, 28, sustained gunshot wounds.
According to information received, the siblings and their friends were gambling a stone’s throw away from their home around 21:30 hrs when the silver grey 212 pulled up and almost immediately opened fire at the men.
The gunmen made good their escape. Police investigators believe that the shooting was gang-related.
Duncan and his brother are known characters having been charged numerous times with armed robberies and other gun-related incident. Duncan was charged and later freed in the murder of businessman, Intaz Roopnarine which occurred at the Cool Square Hotel in 2013.
