The man who police say shot and killed Reginald Atherly, a Guyhoc Park, Georgetown mechanic, has been shot and is currently hospitalized.

Marlon Bradley, 36, was shot by a police rank on Sunday night when he allegedly tried to shoot another rank while in the vicinity of the route 32 minibus park. Bradley is now hospitalized at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), nursing a gunshot wound to the left leg.

According to information received, a rank who was among a number of lawmen, patrolling the Stabroek Market, spotted the suspect on Sunday night.

The police said that a rank approached the wanted man and while in the process of arresting him, the suspect reportedly pulled a handgun from his crutch and pointed it at the rank. At this point, another rank, who was in the vehicle quickly pulled his weapon and fired a round at the suspect, injuring him in the leg.

A .32 Taurus pistol with magazine and eight live .32 rounds of ammunition were retrieved from the suspect.

Atherly was gunned down on July 27, last, when two armed men entered his home in what police believed to be a botched robbery.

The second suspect in the shooting has not been arrested as yet.
