A 55-year-old man was today charged and released on bail for allegedly stealing a bull.

Ryan Robinson of Charlestown pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on August 11 at Georgetown, he stole one bull valued at $180,000, which was the property of Abdul Azeez.

Robinson appeared before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

The unrepresented man, in addressing the court, stated, “I had to do what I had to do.”

According to information, on the day in question at around 23:45 hrs, the victim heard a noise coming from his backyard and, upon checking, he observed the defendant tying a rope around the bull’s neck and pulling the animal out the yard.

The man shouted for the defendant to stop but he continued pulling the bull. The following morning, the victim reported the matter to a police station. An investigation was then carried out and Robinson was charged. While the court prosecutor did not object to bail being granted to the defendant, she asked that conditions be attached.

Magistrate Daly, therefore, released Robinson on $50,000 bail. The condition of the bail is that he must report every Monday to the Ruimveldt Police Station until the hearing and determination of the trial. He was instructed to make his next court appearance on September 25.
