Days after being released on bail for four armed robbery charges, a Lodge man found himself back in court facing another charge.
Thirty-one-year-old Cheddie Bacchus of 28 Norton Street, Lodge, appeared before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Bacchus pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on August 8 at Stabroek, Georgetown, while being armed with a gun, he robbed Ronald Jones of a phone valued at $57,000.
Police Prosecutor Shellon Daniels objected to bail being granted to Bacchus on the grounds that he has four matters of a similar nature pending in court. She added that it was only recently that Bacchus was released on bail and it was while on bail that he is said to have committed the new offence.
Hence, he was remanded by Magistrate Daly to prison until September 23.
A few weeks ago, Bacchus appeared before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty and was slapped with four armed robbery charges. He was remanded to prison on his first court appearance but was later granted bail for the offences.
