A vendor, who allegedly called a woman a “crass”, was today remanded to prison after giving the court conflicting addresses.
Twenty-four-year-old Oluchi Clarke of 98 D’Urban Backlands, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on September 9, at Georgetown, she provoked breach of peace by calling Leitsha Barclay a name other than her name.
An unrepresented Clarke, appeared before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Courts.
Facts presented by Police Prosecutor Annalisa Brummell stated that on the day in question, the victim was at a shop when she was approached by the defendant who pointed her fingers in her face and called her a “crass.”
The matter was then reported and, following an investigation, the defendant was arrested and charged for the offence.
The Prosecutor objected to bail being granted to the defendant on the grounds that she gave conflicting addresses to the court.
The Magistrate, after listening to the facts, remanded Clarke to prison until September 25.
