Two employees attached to the Ministry of Communities, Central Housing and Planning Authority had to run for their lives earlier today when the vehicle they were travelling in burst into flames on the Rupert Craig Highway.

The Guyana Standard has been informed that the vehicle was heading up the East Coast Demerara when the driver noticed smoke emanating from the bonnet. This quickly spread and took over the front of the vehicle.

Thinking the vehicle would explode, the driver and the passenger quickly exited and made a run for it. The Guyana Fire Service was called in and the fire was extinguished.

In February last, four vehicles burnt to ashes. An investigation was ordered but to date, there are no words on the findings. However, some persons were blaming the gas used since the drivers of all the affected vehicles had purchased the same brand of fuel.
