The Golden Jaguars CONCACAF Nations League journey continued on an upward path on Friday night as Trayon Bobb’s brace helped Guyana pick up a 4-2 win over Aruba in Group C of League B action in the 2019-20 CONCACAF Nations League. It all went down at the Leonora National Track & Field Center.
However, it was not easy going for the Jaguars who had to claw back after going behind twice in the first half; first Aruba’s Glenbert Croes opened the scoring in the second minute of the match to put his side in the lead.
Just five minutes later, Matthew Briggs picked up his first Nations League goal off a free kick opportunity in the seventh minute to draw Guyana level.
Aruba would take the lead for a second time when Gregor Breinburg converted from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute.
It was game-on and Guyana would equalize right before the halftime break thanks to a superb effort from Callum Harriott in the 44th minute.
In the second half, midfielder Trayon Bobb would put the Golden Jaguars in the lead at 3-2, after netting his first goal of the match in the 53rd minute before completing his double to hand Guyana a 4-2 lead in the 73rd minute. The scoreline would remain the same until the final whistle as the Jaguars took maximum points (3).
Guyana will remain in second place with the win and are in charge of their destiny in a bid to earn qualification to the 2021 Gold Cup qualifiers.
The Golden Jaguars will now face Jamaica on Monday evening at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.
