As Guyana prepares for its full entry into the world of Oil and Gas, the Guyana Office for Invest (GO-Invest) recognizes its challenges and is currently in the process of reviewing its structure, role, resource capabilities and strategies in order to better support businesses in oil and gas.

This is according to the Chief ExecutiveOfficer (CEO) of Guyana Office for Investment (GO-Invest), Owen Verwey, during his welcome remarks at the Guyana International Petroleum Business Summit &Exhibition (GIPEX-2019).

The official noted that the review will also include the traditional sectors of Guyana: Agriculture, Forestry, Mining, Tourism, Light Manufacturing, and those emerging Business Outsourcing and Information Technology services industries.

“I would like to assure you that GO-Invest is working assiduously to ensure we can better support your businesses, government agencies and the people of Guyana in this new era of development,” he noted.

In his remarks about the exhibition, Verwey noted that GIPEX 2019 follows from the successful Inaugural GIPEX 2018. He added that the recurrence of this event is a positive indicator for the success of this summit which will “obviously” become a clear major landmark of the oil industry in Guyana.

“This is an event that will allow us all to engage in some privileged information sharing, both technical and businesswise, getting to know Guyana and its people, exploring the vast number of opportunities, and to have some fun. The Guyanese businesses and people are looking forward to this interaction and experience. And, if you have not experienced it as yet, Guyanese are very hospitable people.”

Verway added that conferences such as GIPEX, provide an opportunity to bring together an elite group of specialists and experts within various areas from both inside and outside of Guyana to engage in discussions and knowledge sharing.

“This will ultimately lead to the formulation of recommendations, and feasible solutions that aim to develop a strategic integrative relationship with all parties in the industry as well as activating dialogue to encourage the investment climate in the activities of all phases of the oil industry.”
