A teen, who was recently released from prison after serving three months for stabbing his sister, was moments ago sentenced to six months’ imprisonment for escaping custody.
Nineteen-year-old Daniel Boutrim had denied the charge which stated that on March 17, 2019, at the East La Penitence Police Station, he escaped while being in lawful custody for the offence of threatening language.
However, this morning when the matter was called in the courtroom of Senior Magistrate Dylon Bess, an unrepresented Boutrim opted to change his not guilty plea to guilty.
Hence, Magistrate Bess sentenced Boutrim to six months imprisonment for the offence.
According to information, Boutrim was arrested and taken to the station for threatening his sister.
However, while in custody, he escaped and was later rearrested and charged for the offence.
Boutrim’s sister had told the court that he breached a protection order which she had taken out against him.
