A contract in the sum of $259, 711,660 has been awarded for the construction of a Polyclinic at Blue Mountain Road, Festival City Entrance, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown. Making this disclosure earlier today was the Director-General (DG) of the Ministry of the Presidency (MoTP), Joseph Harmon.
The contract, the DG said, was awarded to Ivor Allen Construction. The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) was announced as the procuring entity.
A polyclinic provides both general and specialized outpatient health services including consultations, examinations, and treatment for a variety of diseases and injuries.
This development comes at a time when the government is moving to upgrade the Baracara Health Centre in Berbice, to a polyclinic. This will facilitate more health services to residents in the Canje Creek area.
Meanwhile, Cabinet also noted the award of a contract in the sum of $19,808,454 for the construction of a Health Training Complex at Mabaruma in Region One (Barima/Waini). The contract was awarded to Mohamed Ramzanalli Khan Construction. The procuring entity is the Ministry of Communities.
