“I does normally go in the boutique and take stuff. I used a chisel and I open the door. I tek two hats, three jerseys and a leather jacket,” were the words of a man who pleaded guilty to breaking into his aunt’s boutique and carting off a quantity of clothing.
Twenty-three-year-old Orlando Rickett, a labourer of West Ruimveldt, admitted that on December 20, 2019 at South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, he broke and entered the boutique of Asha Gray and stole a quantity of name brand clothing valued $315,000 and $100,000 cash.
Facts presented by the court prosecutor stated that on the day in question, the victim secured her boutique at around 13:00 hrs and went out.
However, on her return at around 19:00 hrs, she observed the door open and upon entering she noticed the articles missing. The court heard that the woman then reviewed the CCTV footage and saw her cousin entering the boutique and exiting with the articles.
The matter was then reported and following the investigation, he was arrested and charged for the offence.
Magistrate Marcus then remanded Rickett to prison until January 20, 2020 when she will sentence him after reviewing a probation report.
