A teenager who the court heard was previously charged for robbery under arms and break and enter, was today charged with robbery.
Nineteen-year-old Dwight Lewis, a miner of Mahdia, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
The teen denied the charge which stated that on February 15,2020 at 111 Miles, Mahdia, Essequibo Magisterial District, while being in the company of others, he robbed Aaron Augustus of $80,000.
According to information, on the day in question, the victim was walking when he was approached by the defendant and others.
It was reported that the defendant dealt the victim several cuffs to his face and about his body before relieving him of his cash. They then made good their escape.
The matter was reported and following investigation, he was arrested and charged for the offence.
Lewis was remanded to prison until February 27.
