An after 6pm curfew trip to a creek along the Soesdyke/Linden Highway ended tragically for several persons this evening. They are now patients at the Diamond Hospital after the motor car they were travelling in slammed into a utility pole at Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara.
While details surrounding the accident are still sketchy, Guyana Standard understands that the driver of the car was reportedly travelling at a fast rate of speed, when he lost control and slammed into the electrical pole.
The occupants of the vehicle, numbering around four, were pulled out in beach attire. The men were reportedly clad in boxers, while two females were attired in swimwear.
Reports are that several boxes of food and alcohol were found in the back seat of the vehicle. Investigations are ongoing. Since the implementation of the 6pm curfew, there has been several fatal accidents, as citizens insist on using the roadways after hours.
