The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) is yet to decide on the commencement date for the recount of votes cast in the March General and Regional Elections.
Government-nominated Commissioner, Vincent Alexander told media operatives that the Commission has not been informed on the specific time of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) team’s arrival. The team will be overseeing the process.
Opposition-nominated Commissioner, Sase Gunraj said that the commencement date will be hinged on the arrival of the team.
While the commissioners say that they have not received any information regarding the arrival of the team, it was the National COVID-19 Task Force (NCTF) that said the greenlight was given for the team to arrive tomorrow.
