The high-level Caribbean Community (CARICOM) that will be overseeing the recount of the votes cast in the March 2 General and Regional Elections will be arriving tomorrow. This was made known by Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM)’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Yolanda Ward.
She added that the “specifics of the flight details are not known at this point in time”.
The team will include: Cynthia Barrow-Giles – Senior Lecturer at the Universityof the West Indies (UWI); John Jarvis, Commissioner, Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission; and Sylvester King, Supervisor of Electoral Commission of St. Vincent.
Asked if more perons will be part of the team, Ward could not say.
Both King and Jarvis were part of observer missions here for the elections, she confirmed.
The recount can commence in two days after the arrival of the team, Government-nominated Commissioner, Vincent Alexander had previously said.
Today, over 80 persons expected to be part of that recount were involved in a GECOM-organised training session.
Today marks 59 days since votes were cast.
