Police said that they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 56-year-old woman who was shot in the eye this morning.
Her neighbour, 46-year-old Brian Wilshire was shot to the chest and is said to be in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
The deceased has been identified as Florence Forde of Front Road, West Ruimveldt. She died just after 6:30hrs this morning.
Guyana Standard has been informed that the suspect in the shooting is another neighbour.
According to information received, the woman went to her window just after midnight last night after hearing a commotion between two neighbours.
The police said that the wounded man had witnessed the suspect’s son stealing a motorcycle from someone in the community and rattled him out.
Last night’s commotion started after Wilshire and the individual whose motorcycle was stolen went to confront the alleged thief who denied any involvement in the theft.
The argument ended in the shooting death of Forde and the wounding of Wilshire
The suspect is on the run.
