Party Agents attached to the incumbent regime, the A Partnership for National Unity + Alliance for Change (APNU+AFC), yesterday flagged 15 discrepancies when the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) commenced the recount of the ballots cast in the March 2 General and Regional Elections at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC) at Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown.
AFC Executive Member, David Patterson said there were instances where the names of deceased persons appeared as those who voted. Other issues related to persons who would have migrated but were still listed as having voted. There are over 15 of these matters lodged in the Observation Book assigned to each station.
Patterson told media operatives this morning that the coalition party is hoping that GECOM can resolve these issues during the first round of today’s operation.
“[We] are hoping that these issues can be resolved before the end of Round One today, because we took GECOM’s word; they said that they will have a resolution for certain issues. So, I don’t hope for another set or round of ballot boxes to be open without us having some clear directions on what and what we can do and what and what will be permitted,” Patterson said.
He added: “We have death certificates, we have migration records, we have reliable information – very reliable information. We have three other branches of information with backing and supporting records…So we have a team in the background providing all the serial numbers to our agents before the boxes are opened so that we can get as much information as possible.”
