Ballots contained in 311 boxes have so far been counted as Day Seven of the recount of the votes cast in the March General and Regional Elections came to an end at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC) today.

Recent figures released by the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Spokeswoman, Yolanda Ward, indicate that a total of 48 boxes were processed today.

Ward, in a missive to the media, noted that ballots in 12 boxes were counted for Region One (Barima/Waini); 9 for Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam); 12 for Region Three (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara); and 15 for Region Four (Demerara/Mahaica).

Notably, 288 boxes containing ballots were tabulated for the General, and 285 for Regional Elections.

GECOM now has 18 days to count the ballots in the remaining 2,028 boxes.
