Ballots contained in 54 boxes were counted today as Day Nine of the recount of the votes cast in the March General and Regional Elections came to an end this evening.
According to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM)’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Yolanda Ward, five boxes were completed for Region One (Barima/Waini); 11 for Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam); 17 for Region Three (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara); 14 for Region Four (Demerara/Mahaica); and seven for Region Five (Mahaica/Berbice).
With regards to tabulation, some 404 Statements of Recount (SORs) were processed for the General, and 404 for Regional Elections.
Today’s exercise brings the total number of boxes processed thus far to 421, or 17% of the 2,339 boxes that contained ballots cast in these elections.
