American oil giant, ExxonMobil, announced today that the current head of its Guyana operations, Rod Henson, will be replaced by Alistair Routledge who serves as the current President and General Manager for ExxonMobil Qatar Limited.
ExxonMobil said that Henson will be leaving Guyana in the coming months to take up a new position as Vice President of Wells at its Houston headquarters. Henson will have responsibility for all of Exxon’s drilling activities around the world.
During Henson’s tenure, he presided over a number of important operational milestones, including the production of Guyana’s first oil in December 2019.
The company was keen to note that it has grown from 21 employees in 2017 to 156 at the end of the first quarter of 2020, while noting that more than 55 percent of that quota is Guyanese.
It also noted that more than 4,200 people now support ExxonMobil Guyana’s activities, with 2,200 being Guyanese.
