Guyana has recorded two new cases of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19); taking the total number of persons infected so far, to 127.
Also, 10 persons have recovered; taking the total number of persons to survive this disease to 57.
To date, the number of persons tested is 1329 with negative cases being 1202. Some sixty (60) active cases are in institutional isolation, 3 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the number of COVID deaths remains at 10.
The Ministry is very concerned with the increased cases seen in Regions 1 (Barima-Waini) and 7 (Cuyuni- Mazaruni). As of today Region 1, now has 2 confirmed cases in 2 of their subdistricts. Region 7 has a total of 7 cases.
Globally, the statistics, according to World Health Organisation (WHO) indicate that there are 4, 789, 205 cases with 318, 789 deaths. In the Region of the Americas, the number of cases is 2,105, 670 with 125, 843 deaths.
