A woman who was fatally struck while attempting to cross a road last evening at Success, East Coast Demerara, is still to be identified.
This is according to Police Commander, Royston Andries Junor. The Commander indicated that since the accident, no one has come forward to identify the woman.
The Commander is, therefore, appealing to persons with information on the woman’s identity to contact the Beterverwagting Police Station.
Meanwhile, the driver whose vehicle was involved in the accident was apprehended at the scene. He is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
He was driving a Toyota motorcar bearing registration PKK9991.
It was reported that the incident occurred around 18:00hrs at Success, East Coast Demerara.
An eyewitness who was at the scene told investigators that he was at home when he heard a loud commotion, followed by persons screaming.
Upon checking, he saw a woman lying motionless on the roadway. The police and the ambulance were called in. On arrival, the paramedics pronounced the woman dead.
