A Berbice resident who allegedly killed his brother during a land dispute, was yesterday charged with the capital offence murder.
Forty-four-year-old Khemlall Bishnauth called “Bison”, a labourer, of Shieldstown Village, West Bank Berbice appeared at the Fort Wellington Magistrate Court before Magistrate, Rabindranauth Singh.
Bishnauth was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on May 30, 2020, at Shieldstown Village, West Bank Berbice, he murdered Sardanand Bishnauth, his brother. He was remanded to prison until July 1st, 2020.
According to reports, on the day in question, the two brothers were involved in a heated argument over a plot of land owned by their father.
The argument escalated into a fight, during which Khemlall allegedly stabbed Sardanand with a knife to his chest and arm.
A post mortem examination revealed that the victim died from a stab wound to the chest.
