The two young boys who were found lying on the Enmore Public Road, East Coast Demerara, Sunday evening following a hit and run accident have been identified.
The dead teenager has been identified as 16-year-old Sheldon Major while his younger brother, 14-year-old Christopher Pollard, is in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
The boys who hail from 76 Enmore, North East Coast Demerara were discovered lying on the road motionless by passersby around 19:00hrs on Sunday evening.
The police, in a release, said one of the victims was discovered motionless on the northern edge of the road, while the other individual was found in a semi-conscious condition on the grass parapet.
Both individuals were seen with severe injuries about their heads and bodies.
They were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation by police ranks; one was pronounced dead on arrival. The other was admitted to the Accident and Emergency Unit.
Debris of a vehicle was also seen scattered on the northern side of the road.
The Guyana Police Force is seeking the public’s assistance for any information that will trace the vehicle involved and the apprehension of the driver.
