Almost one week after a young boy was killed, and his friend seriously injured in a hit and run accident along the Enmore Public Road, East Coast Demerara, two persons are presently in police custody assisting with the investigation.
Also, the vehicle which is believed to have hit the boys, has been impounded.
Last Sunday, 16-year-old Sheldon Major lost his life while his younger friend, 14-year-old Christopher Pollard, is in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
The boys who hail from 76 Enmore, North East Coast Demerara, were discovered lying on the road by passersby around 19:00hrs on Sunday evening.
The police, in a release said one of the victims was discovered motionless on the northern edge of the road, while the other individual was found in a semi-conscious condition on the grass parapet.
Both individuals were seen with severe injuries about their heads and bodies.
They were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation by police ranks where Major was pronounced dead on arrival. The other teen was admitted to the Accident and Emergency Unit.
Debris of a vehicle was also seen scattered on the northern side of the road.
