Former murder accused, Kevin France has been charged with attempting to kill a man at Blue Martini Club last February. Thirty-two-year-old, France of East Ruimveldt, Housing Scheme, Georgetown, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan. The charge was read to him via Zoom.
France was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on February 28, 2020, at Lamaha and De Abreu Streets, Newtown, Georgetown, he attempted to murder Neil Dutchin. The accused was released on $200,000 bail.
According to information, on the day in question, the victim was at the night club with some friends when he and France got into an argument over who initially sat on a stool. The court heard France went away and later returned with two men, armed with handguns. The men then confronted Dutchin and shot him once to his abdomen and once to his right leg. They then robbed him and made good their escape.
Dutchin was picked up in a bloodied state and rushed to the hospital where he was admitted.
The matter was then reported and following an investigation, France was arrested and charged for the attempted murder, while 31-year-old Nicholas Chow, a taxi driver, of 254 Freeman Street, East LaPenitence, Georgetown, was charged with robbery under-arms.
A few years ago, France was one of the two men accused of killing Patsan Trading salesman Bharrat Ramcharan during a robbery in 2014, but that charge was dismissed in August of 2015.
