A West Coast Berbice fisherman succumbed at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital this morning after he was shot yesterday during a domestic dispute.
Dead is Winston Robertson, 33, of D’Edward Village, West Coast Berbice.
Guyana Standard understands that the incident occurred at around 19:30hrs at Lot 42, Cotton Tree Village, West Coast Berbice.
According to information received, the suspect and his partner had a domestic issue on Sunday, during which she left her home and went to a friend’s house.
However, on Monday, the suspect arrived at the house where he noticed Robertson and the woman, which led to a scuffle.
During the scuffle, the man whipped out a gun and shot Robertson to the chest. He was immediately rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital, after which he was transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery but died this morning.
Police are currently on the hunt for the suspect.
