This morning, former Director-General of the Ministry of the Presidency replied to a letter sent to him yesterday by Attorney General, Anil Nandlall in which Harmon was informed of his termination of employment without benefits.
Harmon is now telling the AG that he will not let the matter go without a fight for his benefits. He said, “Please take notice that I do not recognize your authority and your convoluted attempt to explain the arbitrary capricious action of a fraudulent Government to deny me of my contractual benefits.”
He then stated, “I will pursue this matter further.”
Yesterday, Nandlall wrote, “Needless to say, the President and the Government of Guyana lacks [sic] confidence in you for reason too obvious to state herein. In short, your employment, therefore, came to an end when the new government assumed office.”
Harmon’s contract seen by Guyana Standard, shows that he earned well over $1.3M per month plus other benefits.
Harmon was given a salary at the rate of $900,000 per month. He was also given a duty allowance of $250,000, an entertainment allowance of $100,000, a maid allowance of $128,400, and gardening $65,000 all tax-free.
Also Housing, phone, electricity and internet bills were paid for by the government. Harmon was given gratuity at the rate of twenty and a half percent of basic salary twice a year and 42 days leave.
The former Minister is now looking to secure his benefits of termination.
