The Ministry of Health (MOH) says that two persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have died.
The latest fatalities are an 83-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man, from Demerara-Mahaica (Region Four) who both died while receiving care at our medical facility. A test sample was collected from the man at the time of his admission and his results returned positive for COVID-19 subsequently.
The MOH expressed sincerest condolences to the relatives of the deceased and will make every effort to provide all the necessary support during this difficult time.
Officials of the Ministry have contacted all relatives and persons known to have associated with the two decedents to facilitate contact tracing and provide rapid assistance. The Ministry is also appealing to the public to respect the confidentiality of the persons and their relatives and to allow them to mourn their losses in peace.
